Ed Broadbent's op-ed on ending child poverty reminds us that twenty years ago, we pledged to abolish child poverty by the year 2000. Now, a decade after it was to be abolished, child poverty is at about the same level as it was twenty years ago. This is a problem that we can solve, and one that requires only moral courage on the part of our politicians. Members of Parliament, it's time to stop acting like clowns and get down to work.

...I would suggest it would take a lot more than moral courage to end child poverty. For starters, we would need to come to some sort of consensus about what mechanisms we use to end it.
