A Perfectly Cromulent Politics Blog

Earlier today, I posted a list of NDP bloggers nominated for the 2009 Canadian Blog Awards. Now, I'd like to give a shout out to some non-NDP bloggers who are in the running for awards. Some of these are politically progressive (but not necessarily NDP), others are political but non-partisan, and some are simply non-political. Those that are listed below are blogs that I read with regularity and find informative, insightful, or entertaining.
This page is at least a month old. Feel free to read it, but you might also want to check out something a little fresher:

The voting is being freeped, again. Totally sucks and I don't wanna play.

What crap is this, telling people you are nominated is cool, asking people to read and judge your work is cool,
endorsing a slate of other peoples work without encouraging voters to read all the nominated works is petty and childish.
No on gives a crap what you like! this should be about finding the best and even more importantly broadening the readership base for a lot of new and varied bloggers

annoyed,
I'm sorry to have upset you. It's not at all my intention to prevent people from voting for what they think is best nor to prevent people from finding out about fantastic blogs they'd never read before.
What I've done here, as others have done, is point out that there are a lot of really fantastic blogs out there and give other people credit for their work. This might actually serve to help people discover new blogs they didn't know about before. For example, I had never heard of Apartment613 until I read Ian's post today. Because he took the time to point out some blogs he thinks are meritorious, I got to discover a new site I'd never even heard of.
Similarly there may (or may not) be people who stumble upon my blog and discover some new favourites among those that I've singled out for some props. Others are free (and I would encourage them) to do the same.
This conversation shouldn't just be one-way. In fact, I recently asked my readers for suggestions on new political blogs to read. As a New Democrat, it's sometimes difficult to discover Liberal, Conservative, Green, Bloc, or independent political bloggers. However, people took the time to recommend some of their favourites to me, which allowed me to discover some hidden gems that I now read on a regular basis.
This is also not an attempt to run a "slate" in the Canadian Blog Awards. There are at least a couple of blogs on this list that I did not vote for. There are also some that I would have included, but didn't, if I were trying to organize a slate. All I'm trying to do is give a bit of recognition to some really excellent bloggers that others may or may not be aware of. I hope that other bloggers will do the same, because that contributes to a vibrant and diverse blogging ecosystem.
